What is the role of women in the US in 2009?

  1. I would say that the role for women in the US today would definitely be to watch over the children while the men are out for work or even involved in the war.

  2. The role of a woman I think has changed alot over the years. More woman have jobs and the men stay home with the kids. I disagree with Kevin woman have as much equal right as men.

  4. I think the role of women today is more equal to the men. Women are stepping up and ordering to have jobs because these days are tougher than they used to be. I think having a bad economy is somewhat changing the view men have on women. Today, men who are out of work with a wife that is in work has to rely on her more than usual to help make ends meet. Stay-at-home-dad's now get to see how it is to be a mother 24/7, and it works the same way with women working extra hard like a man usually does. All in all, i think women have just as much of a role as men here in the US.

I have to agree with Allie, because it seems as though we have the same views on this topic.

  5. I think that the role of women changed even in the last few years. Today were seeing more women at the head of businesses but there are still a lot of stay at home moms out there not because they cant work but because they would rather be with their kids then at an office.

  6. I agree with Allie. I think that the role of women has changed so much even in the past few years. Just as many women have jobs today as men do. Some dads even stay home to take care of children instead of their wives.

  7. I agree with Coleton. I respect some of the mothers who stay home with their children. I've heard many mothers say they wished they spent more time with their children that are now grown.
I think the role of women is ever changing and we have come to the point where we have the chance to be in every occupational field that men are.

  8. The role of women has changed greatly throughout the years. It started with the Women's Rights Movement. However, even after women gained certain rights, they are still not completely equal to men. This is shown in the fact that women still get paid less than men. Progress has been made, but it needs to continue to be made. Women in the US today (2009) have a very different role than they did years before, though. For example, in the past women used to stay at home and watch the kids while their husbands were at work. Now, women further their education and get jobs of their own.

  10. I think that over the years, society has somewhat labeled and sterotyped women as the one's who clean the house, stay home with the children, etc. On the otherhand, men are expected to go to work, bring home cash money and be able to put dinner on the table, and fix things and repair.
This view of women is changing and more women are working and what not, but it will take a little longer for the sterotype to change completely.

  11. I disagree with Kevin's post, as I think that is a bit dated. Women are at war now, too, so it is unfair to say that.

  12. I think that women go to work more often then women in the past. I think that women and men have the mostly the same equal rights.

I agree with Allie, because the role of women has changed alot over the years.

  13. I agree with what Lauren said about how women are now more equal to men. However, like I said earlier, I also think that women are not completely equal to men. Hopefully in the future, this will change and women and men will be equal.

  14. i agree with hannah, women are labled as the one who cleans and cooks, men can be sterotyped as well. women, though, today are pretty much equal to men and not looked down upon as much. i believe there is room for improvement though

  15. I also think that the role of women has changed greatly in that many more women hold steady, high paying jobs and are not just the cleaners and the stay at home moms. I agree with Lauren that there are also stay at home dads now because women are not the only ones who are seen as the caretaker.

  16. I agree with Hannah. Women are slowly doing what men usually do. it will take a bit of time to not think a woman is someone who cleans and take care of the kids.

  17. the role of women today is much more than what is was before, they have steped up to be equal to men. Now in days most women have a job to make sure their family's income is enough as the econmy is bad

  18. i think childs isnt correct, i dont think women are just supposed to be maids, they should have a life just as men do

  19. women can do the same as men, but are still doubted today. women can be doctors and lawyers and even president and do just as well of a job as any man.

i agree with bryan disagreeing with childs, a womens role is not to be a maid.

  20. I dont agree with childs. women can have great jobs, they shouldnt just be maids. many women can get equal jobs as men but some chose to stay home and raise their children because that is more important.

  21. More than ever woman should be treated equal if not greater to some men seeing that they are in the army, doctors, in the government. We as americans need to understand that the role of woman has changed.

  22. What childs said i think should be viewed as offensive to women thinking that they're only future is as a maid.

  25. I think women almost have the same jobs as men these days, even though i still think like kevin does, more women tend to stay at home while the men go out and work, even though thats nothing like how it used to be

  26. women are suppose to be equal to men but there is still a glass ceiling.

  27. i agree with kirk because a lot of women have the same jobs as men today.

  28. some women are very important in the role of different companies. There are stay at home moms, and over the past years the role of women has increased by a lot

    ReplyDelete
  29. i agree with kevin when he says that men still have more involvement in society than women

  30. I think the role of women today is the same as men. Women and men have the same opportunities. I think the over the years the role of women has changed alot. But i also agree with CJ that men at times still have more involvement in society than women

  31. I definitely agree with Kirsten. The role of women will always be changing.
I don't think that it's incredibly important to be "equal" per se to men. Scientifically, it's a fact that most men are physically stronger than women. Not to say that women can't be as strong or stronger, but it's true. Some jobs are inherently jobs that women can do better or just as well at as men, and some jobs men are better than women at doing.
